Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune. Not just an ordinary arcade game.

remember the first time I played the game. It was waaay back around August 2012. Since I had a lot of time back then I often go to Trinoma to look for anything good to buy (or window shop :p) and just have a good time walking around by myself. But since I enjoy playing video games or arcade, I always go to TimeZone to play games or watch others play, especially Tekken.

Timezone Trinoma located at 4th floor.
I saw a lot of crowd surrounding the game I always ignore everytime I went to Timezone; Namco's Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 3DX+. I don't really want to play that game the first time I saw it because I thought that it sucked. The car doesn't turn sideward, it's just the camera view that turns when you turn the steering wheel and the car's view is just stuck like it's going forward.

I asked one of the crowds whats the commotion all about. He said there's a "pustahan" or bet going on. My attention was caught when he said that the players are betting money on a race. I didn't really think about gambling on arcade games. O.o I then stand beside him and watched the players as they race for money. As the bet ended, the crowds then disappeared as if nothing happened. The players left and the cabinets are free. To my curiosity, I tried to play the game... that I always ignore.

First, it prompted me if I have a card. It's some kind of an account for the game.. since I'm just gonna give it a try, I chose NO. Then several selections later, the race started. I noticed that the game doesn't feature Nitrous boost and the physics is very slidey in contrast to The Fast & Furious game I always play. But after several kilometers later, I'm starting to enjoy the game. The thing about the car not turning doesn't matter anymore 'cause I'm focused on the road. The game isn't arcadey; it doesn't have nitrous so you have to focus more on cornering.

After the game, I found myself buying a card for the game. Well, because I liked it.

My cards.  The others are not with me when I took this pic.
Now that I've been playing the game for a year now, I say that the game I used to ignore became my addiction. It even made me look at normal roads in a different way now! It's like there's some kind of a guide line of where to drive if I'm racing.

Just like this.
I also gained a lot of friends by playing this game. We always battle everytime we see each other in the arcades. Ohh, and I also went to different arcades to challenge different players BUT no money is involved. I just want to enjoy the game. :)

Aaand that's it.

If you're looking for a seriously fun (AND ADDICTING) racing game, I do recommend playing Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 3DX+ (WMMT) when you go to the arcades. There's also a new WMMT 4 with better graphics, game system and the same physics we love from the previous one. But one game is damn expensive. Most arcade price it for P50.00/game so I suggest saving up money(A LOT OF MONEY) before playing WMMT4 because I know for sure that you'll also be addicted.  *wink wink*
